Leading Critical Minds

Grades 6 - 8
Ages 11 - 14
Middle Years Programme (MYP 1 - 3)

Where critical thinking meets purpose-driven learning.
The Middle School years at GrowBright International School mark a purposeful transition from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) into the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Building on the skills, curiosity and learner agency developed in the PYP, the MYP deepens subject understanding while supporting students’ academic, personal and social growth.

Guided by the International Baccalaureate’s mission, the MYP equips young people with the values, knowledge and skills needed to make sound judgments, act ethically and engage respectfully within a global community. Learning is connected to the world beyond the classroom through meaningful inquiry, global contexts and the IB Learner Profile.

Programme Highlights:

The curriculum builds seamlessly on PYP approaches, gradually shifting from teacher-guided learning towards greater student independence, ownership and responsibility.

  • A broad and balanced academic programme:
Students study a wide range of subjects that establish strong foundations across disciplines, ensuring readiness for the increasing academic rigour of High School.

  • Inquiry-driven and interdisciplinary learning:
Students are encouraged to see knowledge as interconnected, making links across subjects and applying learning to authentic, real-world contexts.

  • Emphasis on identity, global perspectives and communication:
Through global contexts and multilingual communication, students explore their own identity, respect diverse perspectives and develop an international outlook.

  • Experiential and purpose-driven learning opportunities:
Signature GBIS experiences, which include design challenges, social enterprise projects, fieldwork and cross-cultural learning, enable students to apply their understanding beyond the classroom.

By the end of Grade 8, students are confident, reflective learners who understand how they learn, communicate effectively, and approach new challenges with curiosity and resilience; fully prepared for the academic and personal demands as they enter High School, Grades 9 and 10.
